What you do with money is a language.<br \/>A way of communicating with yourself \u2014 and with the world around you. \nAnd just like every language, money has its own grammar, vocabulary and hidden patterns.<\/p><p><strong>The language of money<\/strong><\/p><p>Money touches everything \u2014 your upbringing, your beliefs, your self-image.<\/p><p>Maybe you grew up hearing things like:<br \/>\u2022 \u201cBe happy with what you have.\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cYou have to work hard for every penny.\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cMoney should circulate.\u201d<br \/>\u2022 \u201cTaking care of yourself is selfish.\u201d<\/p><p>These phrases may sound harmless, but they form your inner dictionary.<br \/>They shape what you see as normal, what you believe you\u2019re worth, and what you allow yourself to spend money on \u2014 or not.<br \/>This creates a personal money language that silently guides your behaviour.<\/p><p>The good news? You can learn to understand it \u2014 and rewrite it.<\/p><p><strong>Does this sound familiar?<\/strong><\/p><p><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>You find it difficult to spend money on yourself, yet helping others comes easily.<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>You save diligently but never truly feel safe.<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>You crave freedom but don\u2019t dare to take financial risks.<\/p><p>If this resonates, it\u2019s time to learn to understand your money language.<\/p><p><strong>My story<\/strong><\/p><p>And believe me, I know what that feels like.<br \/>About ten years ago, I was a successful lawyer in my thirties with everything seemingly in order.\nA good salary, a solid budget, a beautiful home.<br \/>And yet, I constantly felt restless about money.\nI felt trapped in my own financial security.<\/p><p>When I later started exploring my own money story, the core became clear:<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>I had grown up with the belief that financial security must always come first.<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>Every risk felt like a threat \u2014 even when it was an opportunity.<br \/>That was a pattern I would later completely turn around (I\u2019ll share more about that in a future newsletter).<\/p><h5>\u201cFinancial freedom doesn\u2019t start with earning more. It starts with understanding better.\u201d<\/h5><p>It was only when I recognised and rewrote that pattern that I dared to use money in ways that enriched my life.\nI decided to create a plan to leave my career as a lawyer \u2014 something I\u2019d been dreaming of for years.<\/p><p>And surprisingly, as I took those big steps, my sense of financial peace grew stronger.<\/p><p><strong>\ud83d\udd27 Discover your money phrases<\/strong><\/p><p>Grab a pen and paper (or your phone notes) and answer these three questions:<br \/>1. What did you often hear about money growing up?<br \/>2. What do you currently believe about earning, spending and saving?<br \/>3.  What do you tell yourself when you\u2019re about to make a financial decision?<\/p><p>\u27a1\ufe0f Write down 5 to 10 phrases. These are your personal money sentences.<br \/>Some empower you. Others hold you back.<\/p><p>Choose one that limits you \u2014 and rewrite it consciously.<br \/>For example:<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>From: \u201cI can only spend money when everything feels certain.\u201d<br \/><strong>\u2022\u00a0<\/strong>To: \u201cI can invest in myself, even when it feels scary \u2014 that\u2019s how I grow.\u201d<\/p><p>Write your new phrase on a post-it note and stick it to your mirror, laptop or banking app.<br \/>Let your new money language sink in every single day.<\/p><p><strong>\u2728 What this creates<\/strong><\/p><p>Becoming aware of your money language opens up space.\nFor new choices. For calm.
